Independent Options is celebrating after achieving its new Investor in People Silver standard, demonstrating its commitment to realising the potential of its people.
The charity, based in Hazel Grove, Stockport, specialises in providing care for adults and children with learning disabilities, and aims to empower people with disabilities so they can take control of their lives, achieve their aspirations and enjoy life to the full.
Investors in People is the UK’s leading accreditation for business improvement through people management, and provides a wealth of resources for businesses to innovate, improve and grow, with a focus on good people making great business. Independent Options first achieved the Standard in 2000, and since then has been re-accredited every three years to maintain the Standard.

Commenting on the award, Director of Human Resources at Independent Options, Christine McPartland, said: “Two years ago Independent Options was reassessed against the new standards and achieved a Bronze Award. The assessor was very impressed with the organisation and suggested that we did not wait the full three years for reassessment, so we were recently reassessed and successful in achieving the Silver Award.
“This is a major achievement and one that would not have been possible without the support of everyone who works or volunteers for us. I am very proud that all our excellent work, good systems and procedures have been recognised and I want to thank everyone who took part in the assessment process. It is onwards and upwards now, towards Gold.”
